Representation matters: not just on our screens, but in the information and data we share. During Black History Month, join us for a drop-in, beginner-friendly editing session to learn more and to help improve coverage of Black histories in Wikipedia and Wikidata. No experience necessary! Aligned with this year's larger theme, we will have suggestions on how to improve representation of Afrofuturism in media.

Time: Drop-in anytime between 11am-3pm, whether you have 15 minutes or a couple hours. 

This event is part of a larger Wikipedia and Wikidata editing campaign. There is also a Kickoff event panel on Zoom, featuring speakers Tonya Sutherland-Stewart and Melissa J. Nelson and moderated by York Professor Natasha Henry Dixon. Join facilitated editing sessions on Zoom on the first 2 Thursdays of February, where you can learn the basics or get a refresher on editing Wikipedia and Wikidata, then learn and write alongside others who are passionate about improving digital coverage of Black histories and experiences. For full details and registration for those events, visit the event page.
