Publishing your research data in a data repository

Publishing your research data in a data repository Online

Presenter: Stephanie Quail & Minglu Wang

Many scholarly journals are now requiring authors to submit a Data Availability Statement (DAS). Because of this requirement, the importance of publishing research data in a data repository and obtaining a permanent URL, such as a digital object identifier (DOI), is becoming increasingly important. This workshop introduces the guiding principles of data publishing. During this workshop, you will learn:

  • How to prepare your data for sharing and long-term access
  • How to select a data repository that meets your needs
  • A brief overview of the data deposit process for York’s institutional research data repository, York University’s Dataverse, will also be provided

This workshop is part of the Libraries' 2025 Open Access Week programming. Participants may also be interested in completing the Libraries' virtual Research Impact Challenge (October 20, 2025 to October 24, 2025) to learn more about research impact and visibility topics.
