Data Storytelling Challenge Kickoff: How to Get Started Online

Put your data visualization & creativity skills to the test and enter the very first York University Libraries Data Storytelling Challenge!
This kickoff workshop is designed to help launch you into the Data Storytelling Challenge with everything you need to get started. You will be introduced to data visualization and data physicalization for storytelling, and how they can make a powerful impact. The workshop will describe the process of creating a data visualization or physicalization, from ideation to prototyping, and support you in developing a plan to create a final visualization for the challenge.
You’ll also learn about the many resources and supports available through York University Libraries, including:

Access to 3D printers, sewing machines, laser cutters, and other digital fabrication tools in the Making and Media Creation Lab.

A lineup of upcoming library workshops and orientations to help you build your skills.
- Opportunities to consult with library experts specializing in data visualization, 3D printing, fabrication, and more.
Note: This workshop will be recorded. Registrants will receive a link to the recording. The Data Storytelling Challenge is only open to York University students, but the workshop is open to everyone.
